In 2019, Thurso Community Market was created and over the past five years, has had many amazing women ensuring that it provided a fantastic event for the community, whilst raising much needed money for local charities. In 2023, we re-branded and became Thurso Food and Craft Fair, focussing not only on hand crafted goods, but also homemade/home grown produce. We also have encompassed a Community Spotlight where organisations have the opportunity to spread the word about the great work that they are doing in our community and maybe raise some funds at the same time.

In 2024, our team consists of Kara and Penny, both of whom have a passion to ensure the continued success of the Thurso Food and Craft Fair. Our aim is to provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where people can not only shop but also meet others for a catch up and cup of coffee.

Kara has been running the fair since 2022. Kara’s passion has always been for the Community to benefit from the fair and takes pride in assisting community projects, organisations and charities to provide much needed information and resources to the local community through serving refreshments and our community spotlight table. Kara has attended the markets as a crafter since 2021, you can find her at Ever Personal Designs.

Penny Irvine joined the team in 2022 when the fair underwent some major adaptations. Penny has been and continues to be part of the driving force that has steered the fair into the direction that it is heading. Penny believes local quality craftsmanship deserves to be recognised and take centre stage. Penny has been an attendee at the fairs since 2019 with her own venture, Penny Irvine Art.

Our ethos

The aim for Thurso Food & Craft Fair is to be much more than a market with the hopes that it will be seen as a hub for the community & an event for all. We have seen over recent years the positive impact that community spirit can have on us all and this is something that we will keep at the heart of everything we do.

For us the beautiful diversity of our community is not just to be
celebrated but, is part of who we are. Creating an environment & experience where diversity, equity and inclusion are at the very heart of what we do is key for all of us as team members.

Our Food & Craft Fair will be one where uniqueness and diversity in all forms , is respected, encouraged and valued with the biggest smile Caithness has to offer !
We look forward to welcoming you to YOUR Food & Craft Fair.
